Ravings of a Mad Man: vol. 2.23
It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid then open it and remove all doubt
-Mark Twain

Alright I will have to start out this week with an apology. Eric Dunn knew a few weeks ago the answer to the Trivia Time. He knew that Screech used Home on the Range for his school song. What can be said but I am sorry for the miss understanding. You are the winner.
Now done to business as usual. First off I love spell check and how it figures out what I am trying to type and corrects right then and there. Now about run on sentences and sentences that make no sense at all I am sorry for that, but until they make a computer that you hook into my brain and types as fast as I think you will just have to use your interpreter to understand what it is I am trying to say. Oh I don't think that I won the Best in Utah because I didn't get an email or anything like that. I will have to start campaigning a lot earlier next year. In life we all have dreams and goals sometimes we achieve them and sometimes we don't get anywhere near our goals it seems we should just give up and try acting. Yeah if Ben Affleck can play Jack Ryan in a movie then I believe that anybody could be a world renowned thespian. (I miss spelled that word but spell check at its finest.) (Does the period go inside the parentheses or the outside?). I need to get good at technical writing I have to take a technical writing class this fall because it looks like I will be passing my Thermodynamics class thanks to some positive thinking. Also if everyone could join me in tipping their hats to my wife she passed her anesthesia exam and clinical boards this past weekend. Three cheers for Jenny, "Hip-hip hooray, Hip-hip hooray, Hip-hip hooray." Is that how you do that? Oh well good job!
Trivia Time: Adam Epson was the winner of last week's question. As a huge fan of UCLA Adam knew that BYU won last in 1993. Looks like it will be one more year. This week's question is: How many people can you fit in an elevator that allows you to hold a weight maximum of 1100 lbs.? The winner will receive one free elevator ride in Joseph Smith Memorial Building (JSMB) those elevators are fun.
Recommendations: Movie: This past week I was able to review a lot of movie because of Spring Break so I think that you should watch Mr. Baseball. Tom Selleck's best work after Magnum P.I. Music: Marie Antoinette was another movie I saw it was good but the soundtrack was the highlight so listen to that.
I feel as the writer, editor and creator of the newsletter I am in a great position to instruct as well as entertain. So, earlier in the letter I made mention of the Tipping your hat. I would like to inform all of the readers where tipping your came from and way it so prevalent in today's society. So if you will indulge me I have found a hilariously awesome website dedicated to men's clothing that talks about tipping your hat so if you have ten minutes you should read the whole article at http://www.askandyaboutclothes.com/Clothes%20Articles/etiquette_for_hats_and_caps.htm But since we live in such a rush society I would like to paraphrase certain important aspects of it so you men don't get arrested for not tipping your hat to a lady. When a gentleman "dons" his hat to leave or "doffs" his hat to a lady, his actions are being described by two British colloquialisms that come from contractions of the phrases "do on" meaning "to do", and the Middle English "doffen", which became "don off" meaning "to do off"! Hats are tipped, (or doffed) slightly lifting the hat off your forehead, when meeting a lady (remove your hat if you stop to talk), or to "say" to anyone, male or female – thank you, excuse me, hello, goodbye, you're welcome or how do you do . Tipping of the hat is a conventional gesture of politeness. This hat tipping custom has the same origin as military saluting, which came from the raising of medieval Knights face visors to show friendliness.
Have a good week I know I will.
Eric Jones
