Ravings of a Mad Man: vol. 5.24

It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid then open it and remove all doubt

-Mark Twain

Yes I am still here people after what can only be described as a dismal week of sports news for me. The USA blew their opportunity to shock the world and the Jazz used their number 9 pick to get Gordon Hayward. If you google 'Gordon Hayward rap' you will be directed to a youtube video that will blow your mind. Gordon Hayward has not played a game as a Jazz player yet but it is safe to say that he is the most embarrassing Jazz player of all time. This is not an easy list be on let alone be at the top of the list. Think about it the Jazz had a player that claimed to have invented "raise the roof" (Chris Morris). The Jazz had Greg Ostertag; I don't have to put anything before or after that name. The Jazz had a player whose biggest claim to fame is that on a fast break, all alone, he tripped, fell and turned the ball over to the other team (Pace Mannion). The list goes on and on. But this is the first time that…Oh wait I just remembered David Benoit who after being traded by the Jazz to another team he claimed that he was better than Karl Malone. PS Karl Malone makes the list too because he played so terribly in the Finals both years and because of his signature dunk. Where was I? Oh yeah, this is the first time that we have had a player who thought he was gangsta enough to rap. This boy is more pure than I am and he thinks that he is "Too Big Yo." What a joke, it is my only hope that he proves me wrong and that he turns out to be as good as Larry Bird or perhaps better. May the basketball Gods have mercy on our souls?

Trivia Time: Who would you rather have on your team, Gordon Hayward or magic beans?

With this week being the 4th of July week, which is Sunday, I think it is a perfect time to discuss how awesome this country is. This country has enabled simple people to rise from humble beginnings and make something great of themselves. It also has allowed great people that were great from the beginning fall from grace and become the scum of America. I am just trying to say that even though some people on the inside of the country don't fill this way this is still the land of opportunity. You can make of yourself what you want. "If you want to sing out sing out, and if you want to be free, be free 'cause there's a million things to be. You know that there are. You can do what you want. The opportunity's on. And if you find a new way you can do it today. You can make it all true and you can make it undo. You only need to know" (Cat Stevens). Those words should inspire you to greatness or to laziness. I am not saying being lazy is not great. Because you could become the greatest lazy person of all time, I am saying that you are lazy at being lazy then that is not great. Strife to be the best at everything you do. Anywho pride in your country is important. That is one of the things I love about the World Cup is seeing the fans and teams listen to their national anthems and they know that the game is more than a game. I love the USA and will cheer for anything that promotes the good that radiates from this country. I love the flag and what it represents. To close I would like you to read that words of Nelson Muntz (The bully kid from the Simpsons), who said it best when he said, "So burn the flag if you must, but before you do, you better burn a few other things! You better burn your shirt and your pants! Be sure to burn your TV and car! Oh yes, and don't forget to burn your house! Because none of those things could exist without six white stripes, seven red stripes, and a hell of a lot of stars!" Just remember if our founding ancestors didn't do what they did then you would be British and you would probably have bad teeth. I am just saying.

Have a good week I know I will
